Books for March include Major Perrigrew's Last Stand for Manitowish Waters, Dancing at the Rascal Fair for Boulder Junction and The Tenderness of Wolves for Winchester.
I've also added the LitLovers website to the list of book sites. I've looked through the site before but it seems as if there is a lot more book information and it's a fun site to visit.

Major Pettigrew’s Last Stand
ReplyDeleteWhile the characters were a little flat (for me), there was a lighthearted story with tongue in cheek quips with most of the gals finding this book delightful. And the consensus was the "novel" would make a very good movie...yes! that's what this read like, a screenplay, a script!
Thanks for your comment,Vicky. I think it would make a good movie. I checked on Sean Connery and he'd almost be too old. How about Edward Herrmann?
ReplyDeletehttp://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001346/ -- Here's his information from IMDB.
What I liked about the book was that even in our little towns up here, you can see people so stuck in the past that they don't want to take a chance on the future. I think the Major was like that throughout most of the book. Because he had Grace as a friend, he saw that Mrs. Ali was worth taking the chance.
MOVIE TIME -- Who would you cast as Major Pettigrew? From my previous comment -- I'd go with Edward Herrmann. He's the fellow that played FDR. If you google his name, you can see his other movies.
ReplyDeleteSince we (the older crowd) are a growing demographic, maybe casting movies for our age isn't such a bad idea.
Movie Time -- for,
ReplyDeleteMajor Pettigrew - Pierce Bronsnan
Roger (son) - Hugh Grant
Sandy (Roger' girlfriend) - Cate Blanchett
Mrs. Ali - Penelope Cruz
