April 2012 Books

The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks is the April book for Manitowish Waters. The New York Times Sunday review does a good job of explaining Henrietta's life and her importance to medical science.

The Boulder Junction book is Johnathan Safran Foer's Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close. LitLovers has published a discussion guide & summary

Left Neglected by Lisa Genova is the April book for Winchester. Once again, Genova is able to give a human face to a brain dysfunction. The main character suffers from a brain injury that makes it impossible for her to recognize the left side of her body. I've added a couple of links below. This first is a USA Today review of the book and the second is a set of discussion questions from Simon and Schuster.
